Carola Björk´s work could perhaps be described as conceptual archaeology. Or, a close-to-the-body practice that takes an interest in remains, impressions of various kinds; heritage. Her expressions are photography, sculpture, painting, ready mades. It varies. Just like the materials she uses also vary. In early adolescence Carola lost contact with her mother, a separation that lasted for many years and influenced a fundamental need to understand the impact of a close relationship. Within her practice Carola reason around memory, care and emptiness.
